Iraqi accountability for genocide
"KRG says Baghdad accountable for Kurdish ‘genocide’" http://rudaw.net/english/kurdistan/140420151
Summary
The article that is focused on in this entry deals with the KRG (Kurdish Regional Government) stating that the Iraqui Government located in Baghdad has both a "legal and Moral Obligation" to compensate survivors of the Anfal Campaign. This Campagin was part of the war between Iran and Iraq and was lead by the Baathist regime of Saddam Hussein, which infamously used Gas as part of its arsenal to combat the Iranians. this campaign also purposley targeted other minority groups such as Assyrians, Yazdis and Jews to name a few and has been pfficially recognized as genocide by some nations.
Reflection
The article brings up a good point which the Kurdish Regional Government has made is that Iraq should take respnsibility of the Genocide and recompensate those that survived the horrible attacks that took place while the cmpaign was active in the 1980's. I also feel personally that the government should take that responsibilty and be held accountable as it had failed in ensuring the security and freedom of the people in the areas. These being the rights that the goveremnt even exists to protect in the first place, but it has instead acted in a egocentricacy and for that it must be held responsible.

The fact the the international community has finally acknowledged that there is in fact a problem with the acts of violence that this group is taking against the people in Northern Iraq and Eastern Syria. Also that action must be taken and the fact that they are calling on baghdad to join the international effort to prosecute them when the violence between Sunni's and Shiites is often ignored due to the fragile relationship that both sides of Islam.

Use of Chemical Weapons Now
"Iraqi Kurdistan: Chemical Weapons Used against Civilians in Tikrit" http://unpo.org/article/18103
Summary
Currently the Islamic State the militant group responsible for the massacres and genocidal acts in Northern Iraq and Syria are running into resistance from one the groups that they are trying to subjugate and these are the Kurds of the Zagros Mountain region of Northern Iraq. This has lead the Islamic State to break more another International law aiside from the ones it has already broken and that is the International Laws that Ban the use of Chenical Weapons of any kind against Civilian and Military Personnel. These claims are backed up by evidence of them having in thier possession Amonium Nitrate which is a key ingredient in both explosives making and chemical agents mixing. There are also claims that the Islamic State used Chlorine gas against the people of Tikrit and Mosul last year in 2014.
Reflection
The further Breaking of both international and Human rights laws in the State of Iraq by the Islamic State must be recognized by other nations other than the United Nations. This must be done due to the inability of the U.N. to act in any way other than giving humanitarian aid to the Kurds due to the Security Counsel being unable to reach a consensus on the issue. therefore i belive that the United states should act on behalf of the U.N. with an International Coalition to take down the militant group before it causes further Instability in the Middle east as is currently being seen in Yemen.
